Welcome To The Risi Academy Of Dance

The Risi Academy of Dance has compiled a wonderful site for you to browse through and learn more about us.  Who we are and who our stars are?  Where are our schools?  What forms of dance do we do? And  some interesting information about  our teachers and who they are. We also have lots of  fun photographs and tips on how to reach the top of your dancing  game.  We even have our own ballet line which stocks all kinds of dance attire.  From leotards, ballet shoes and  R.A.D. attire, to hip hop gear and bags.

We are a dance school based in  Cape Town in the Tokai and Edgemead area.  Our Academy offers classes in Ballet,Modern, Funk, HIp Hop, Tap and Musical Theatre.  Our students take part in exam, show, competitions and eisteddfods.  We encourage students to try all dance forms before they decide on which form it is they would like to do. 

Every year, at Christmas time, the Risi Academy of Dance puts on a Christmas Show packed with Ballerinas wearing candy floss tutus, Modern dancers, American Style Tappers, Hip Hop teams and Christmas singing for the community of Edgemead.  This year the studio decided to give back to the community and lend their support to a worthy cause.  They did so by donating all the proceeds from the show, to the Cart Horse Association of Cape Town. The Risi sisters have been teaching in Edgemead and the surrounding areas of Cape Town for the past 15 years and feel that the cart horse association has done such a wonderful job in uplifting and educating the many people still using the cart horse as a means of income.  They make a great effort to keep a watchful eye on the wellbeing of these wonderful animals and owners.  So we say thank you and keep up the good work.  For more information on the Risi Academy of Dance and all their classes contact Melissa or Verna on 084 570 7525.

Our studio has grown and we are in demand for more classes.  Please speak to your teacher to confirm which class and day will suit you.  Call Melissa for the modern dancing, hip hop, funk and musical theatre schedule.  Please welcome Amanda to the studio.  She has been teaching for us for the past year.  She comes to us all the way from Canada and is an inspiration to watch dance and teach.  Amanda will be assisting in all forms of dance for 2007 and will be teaching the new adult classes. 

Don’t forget  Amanda is teaching a workshop this December.  There will be all sorts of classes ranging from hip hop and tap to musical theatre and ballet.  It is the perfect way to spend a day dancing and is a wonderful opportunity for anybody interested.
